GUEST LECTUES BY FOREIGN SCHOLARS TO PRISONERS :      Mrs.Joan Huguenard, California, Micheal Andrew, Wisconsin and Steaphean Waligur from Washington DC visited Central Jail, Rajahmundry and participated in orientation programmes organized by our centre for prisoners.
GANDHI CERTIFICATE COURSE TO PRISONERS OF CENTRAL JAIL, RAJAHMUNDRY:-   Three months Certificate Courses on "Gandhian Philosophy and Thought" has been offering to prisoners of Central Prison, Rajahmundry since 2008. Two batches already completed and third batch has recently inaugurated on 19-01-2011. For each batch there are 90 prisoners admitted and successfully completed. As informed by the jail authorities, there was a lot of behavioral change in certificate course prisoners. Those who completed this course, the authorities have sanctioned the 15 days remission in their imprisonment term.
COMPETITIONS TO PRISONERS ON GANDHIJI ON 2ND OCTOBER,2010:   On the occasion of International Non-violence Day celebrations, on 2nd Oct., 2008, 2009 & 2010, essay writing and elocution competitions on Gandhi were conducted in central Jail, Rajahmundry. We distributed Prizes and gifts to winners.
CERTIFICATE COURSES ON GANDHIJI: Three months Certificate Course on "Gandhian Philosophy and Thought" has been offering to college and school students in East and West Godavari districts since 2008. The centre has been offering this certificate course in Sri Y.N.College, narsapur, Dr.DNR Women's College, Palakol, SVKP & Dr.KS Raju, Arts & Science College, Penugonda, BGBS Womens College, Narsapur, ZPH School, Mutyalapalli in West Godavari and MVNJS & RVR Degree College, Malkipura, East Godavari since 2008. We are providing Gandhiji's Autobiography and teaching assistance to students and also arranging guest lectures by inviting professors and Gandhian experts who have national and international repute. After 3 months we conduct one examination and awarding certificates to students. For the year 20010-2011, this course offered in 4 colleges and one high school.
LITERARY & FINE ARTS COMPETITIONS TO STUDENTS:   On the eve of 30th of January, 2nd October, 15th August, 26th January and on some other occasions like World Human Rights Day, National Education Day, World Womens' Day etc., the centre has been conducting district level literary & fine arts competitions to students ranging from class 6th to PG.  Competitions like essay writing, debate, quiz, elocution, painting competitions etc., have been conducting and distributing prizes and certificates to winners. On 2nd October, 2009, in collaboration with Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, our centre conducted AU Inter Collegiate Elocution Competition on Gandhiji.
PAINTINGS EXHIBITION ON FREEDOM MOVEMENT:    On the occasion of Independence Day celebrations in the college, Dr.Uday Kumar, Popular Artist, painted the spot paintings on Freedom Movement continuously for 4 hours on the canvass cloth on 12-08-09 in the college. These paintings were exhibited for public on 15-08-2009 in the college campus. Dr.Turlapati Kutumba Rao, Padmasri Awardee, inaugurated the exhibition. The college management honour Dr.Udaykumar with felicitation.
ANDHRA UNIVERSITY INTER-COLLEGIATE ELOCUTION COMPETITIONS ON GANDHIJI:-   In association with Andhra Unsiversity, Visakhapatnam, Gandhian Studies Centre was conducted AU Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competitions to college students on 2nd October, 2009. Prof.G.Haragopal, Dean of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad attended as Chief Guest and Prof.OSRU Bhanu Kumar, Dean of Students Affairs, AU, inaugurated the competitions. There were 60 students from 22 colleges attended from East, West, Visakha & Vizianagaram Districts. Prizes were distributed to winners. The first and second prize winners are selected for National Competition on Gandhiji and Cooperative Movement to be held in Nagpur in the month of December, 2009. These two students will represent Andhra University for this national competition. On this occasion, GSC and college management felicitated Sri Pratti Seshaiah, Freedom Fighter and Gandhian on the same day.
FLOOD RELIEF FUND AND MATERIAL COLLECTED FOR KRISHNA FLOOD VICTIMS:     In coordination with NCC, NSS and Community Service Centre of our college, GSC has collected cloths, Utensils, Rice and money in Narsapur Town on 9-10-2009 and handed over the same to the Narsapur Sub- Collector Mr.Ronald Rose for Krishna Flood victims. One lorry of cloths, utensils, 4 bags of rice and Rs.28,665/- cash were collected.
PHOTO EXHIBITIONS ON GANDHIJI:- We collected 150 rare photos of Mahatma Gandhi from National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi and also collected some photos from Gandhi Ashram, Wardha, and exhibiting all these photo graphs to students and general public. In 2008, we conducted photo exhibition for prisoners of central Jail, Rajahmundry. This year Gandhian Studies Centre has conducted photo exhibition on Gandhiji in ZPH School, Mutyalapalli, Mogaltur Mandal on 10-12-2009 on the occasion of World Human Rights Day. All the students, nearly 2000 from schools and colleges in Mogaltur Mandal visited the exhibition. This exhibition was inaugurated by Sri Sattineni Mohan Rao, President, MPP, Mogaltur inaugurated. Another photo exhibition on Gandhiji was conducted and exhibited the photos on Gandhiji's life from 8th to 11th of January, 2010 in Sri Y.N.college, Narsapur, as a part of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Sri Y.N.college. High Court Judges Justice DSR Varma, Justice Bhavani Prasad, Justice C.Y.somayajulu, Guhati High Court Chief Justice Sri Justice Chelameswar and other VIPs visited the exhibition.
GANDHI PEACE MARCH ON 30th January, 2010: On the occasion of Gandhiji's Death Anniversary, Gandhian studies Centre has decided to  organize Gandhi Peace March every year since 2010. As a part of this our centre has organized a Gandhi Peace march on 30th January, 2010 and 29th January, 2011 from Matlapalem (where Gandhi Visited two times in 1929 & 1932) to Narsapur which covers 25 Kilometers. There are hundreds of students participated from Matlapalem to Narsapur town. All the way, the students and staff raised the slogans and propagated the World peace and Non-violence. Nearly 35 schools from 4 mandals participated in this march for last 2 years.
BOOK PUBLICATIONS BY THE CENTRE:  Gandhian Studies Centre of our college published a book on "Gowthami Satyagraha Ashram, E.G.dist., - A Study" written by Sri P.S.Pratap Raju, Teacher, Poduru and edited by Dr.D.Venkateswara Rao, Director, GSC. This book was released by Dr.S.V.Prabhath, Chairman, NCRI, Ministry of HRD, Hyderabad, on 12-5-2009 in our college. Sri GVVSDS Prasad, General Secretary, AP Sarvodaya Mandal, Hyderabad attended as guest of honour. Planning to publish one more book on "Freedom Movement in Narsapur Taluk" (Telugu) written by Sri Mamidi Someswara Rao. As inspired by the Gandhian Studies Centre activities organized in central Jail, Rajahmundry, a prisoner Mr.G.Rama Chandra Reddy has written one book entitled "cherachalalo vyapakam" published by Gandhian Studies Centre.
PUBLICATION OF QUARTELY NEWS LETTERS: Gandhian Studies Centre has been publishing the quarterly newsletters on centre activities and publishing articles on Gandhi Thought. Till today we released the 9 quarterly newsletters.
SEMINARS & CONFERENCES: Organized one national seminar on Gandhiji & Rural Development in 2006 in Sri Y.N.College, Narsapur, one National Workshop on Sarvodaya Workers in Gandhi Bhavazn, Pedanindrakolanu in 2007 and one state level seminar in SCIM Govt. College, Tanuku in 2008 by our centre.
VISIT BY FOREGIN SCHOLARS & PEACE ACTIVISTS:
       Mr.Somik Raha, Gandhian Scholar from Stanford University, USA, Prof.Micheal Naglar, California, Dr.Mark Lindley from Stanford, Mrs.Joan Huguenard, California, Micheal Andrew, Wisconsin and Steaphean Waligur from Washington DC visited our Gandhian Studies Centre and participated in orientation programmes organized by our centre in various schools in around our Narsapur town.
PUBLISHING LEAFLETS & PAMPHLETS ON GANDHIAN PRINCIPLES:
       The centre has been publishing pamphlets, leaflets, brochures etc., on Gandhian Principles and distributing to the school and college students both in Telugu and English.
Web site on Gandhian Studies Centre: The centre has developed a website on Gandhian Studies Centre with www.gandhianstudiesync.org.
LIBRARY ON GANDHIJI: The centre has established a library with 600 book collection on Gandhiji. Books like Collected Works of Mahatma (100 Volumes), Day to Day with Gandhi by Tendulkar, Young India (15 Volumes), Pyarelal Volumes and other publications. These books are collected from Gandhi Literature centre, Gandhi national Museum, New Delhi. In addition to these books, the centre subscribing 20 journals and periodicals including Gandhi Marg, Journal of Non-violence etc.
Research: Under the guidance of Dr.D.Venakteswara Rao, Director, Gandhian Studies Centre, two scholars pursued their M.Phil programmes which were registered under distance mode in Madurai Kamarj University. These two scholars received their M.Phil degrees from the Madurai Kamaraj University.
Future Activities:
       1.Planning to bring out one book on Freedom Fighters in West Godavari
       2.To show short films on Gandhiji to rural area people

       3.Conduct more certificate courses to employees, general public and
           other sections of the society through distance mode.

       4.To organize youth camps to counsel the youth about peace and non-
           violence.

       5.To conduct a study on institutions; and individuals who are working on
           and propagating Gandhian values.

       6.To publish more literature and books on Gandhiji

       7.Proposed to conduct one Certificate course to Women Prisoners of
            Rajahmundry Central Jail.
