About the college:

               

               Sri Y.N.College was established in the year 1949 on the banks of Vasita Godavari in a serene atmosphere ideally situated for the pursuit of higher education. It attended the status of Degree College in 1956 and shifted to the present premises of 15 acres land with a Dutch Building (the present main building of college on the Bank of River Vasista Godavari). The college is elevated to Post Graduate Level I the year 1989 and the college was started college of Education in 2007. The college has been growing all these years in Rural Environs catering mostly to the students coming from rural and semi-urban background. In the year 2006 Andhra university recognized Sri Y.N College as Research Centre to pursue part-time M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes in Political Science and Public Administration subjects. The college has attaned the autonomous status from the year 2007. It has re-accredited by NAAC with "A" Grade with a CGPA of 3.40 on 4 Points scale in 2010.

About the Centre:

               Gandhian Studies Centre was sanctioned by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi in 2006 under the X Plan and it has renewed in XI plan. The centre aims to promote activities both for the younger generation and for the more matured Gandhian activists and workers, and to translate the same into social life for the benefit of the nations. Ours is the first autonomous and formerly affiliated college having this unique opportunity to establish this prestigious centre. Our Centre is one of the five Gandhian Studies Centres in Andhra Pradesh sanctioned by the UGC. It has been perpetuating the ideas and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi since its inception by organizing guest lectures, orientation programmes, photo exhibitions, competitions, training programmes to youth, seminars, conferences, publications, offering certificate courses on Gandhian philosophy etc. The objective of the centre is to promote, organize, and undertake the study of life and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi and to study and disseminate of Gandhian values and to promote and carry on research in various aspects of Gandhian philosophy.
